Born and raised in Southern Saskatchewan, Ren spent 10 years in the Royal Canadian Navy travelling across Canada. Having an all-consuming interest is houses, on these postings he added to his experience in building and renovating houses as a part-time occupation.

He operated his own general contracting service from 1975 to 1980. Since then, Ren has been a home pre-purchase consultant, radio and television broadcaster, newspaper columnist, construction trades college lecturer and technical editor for both the international Time Life series of home improvements and construction publications and the Government of Alberta's home maintenance publication.

Ren introduced both independent pre-purchase home inspections and during construction quality control inspections to the National Capital area. The Canadian Lumbermen's Association recognizes Ren Molnar as a qualified inspector of installed hardwood floors and he has served as an expert witness in that capacity in cases of contractor/homeowner disputes.

He is a spokesman for the re-store arm of Habitat for Humanity and has recently been named construction consultant to Home Focus Inc., Canada's premiere home improvements and construction Internet directory.

Ren hosts the nationally syndicated Home Focus, home improvements radio show originating from CFRA in Ottawa and broadcast weekly in twenty-five markets from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Vancouver, British Columbia.
The program is also heard in the Northern United States.
