Question:

We moved into our "new" home (actually 1 year of age) and have found the porcelain floor tiles cold. I have heard that I can retrofit radiant heat between the floor joists (basement is unfinished). Is this truly an option? Is it something that works as well as placing the tubing above the floor? I'm focusing on a water system (vs. electric) due to the large area and presumed cost difference of operation. Would you suggest otherwise?

Answer:

You're on the right track to comfort and I'd go for it.
