We have a 20 year old 2 story 2,400ft home. It has a zero clearance Fire place in the main floor family room. I'd like to get a wood burning stove. Can a wood burning stove be installed in lieu of the fire place? If so can you share some advice.

That will depend on the wood stove and on whether or not the chimney you have was engineered for it. The stove's ownership mannual will tell you all about it.
