You have mentioned many times on your show about installing a booster fan to remove humidity in the basement. Do you install the fan near the ceiling with the duct running to the bottom of the wall, or must the fan itself be at the bottom?
Answer:
A booster fan system can be installed in the main heating plenum. It comes as a unit already mounted in short length of duct and can wired to either a separate switch or directly to the furnace’s electrical system so it cycles on and off with the fan motor. The manufacturer’s brochure says it boosts air movement from 80 CFM to 450 CFM and that is plenty for most needs. You simply disassemble the duct leading to the room in question, cut four or five inches from the female portion and pop in the modification.
