We are building a one story sunroom which is attached to a 2 story brick home. We inherited about 5 cords of hardwood and thought it would be wonderful to have a small wood stove in the new room, but of course I must admit that the atmosphere is the main reason! There will be baseboard electric heaters as well. The main source of heat for the house is gas but we're not interested in a fake stove or fireplace fuelled by gas. Do you think it would be reasonable to install a wood stove in this room? Could the stove be vented to the main house?
Answer:
Of course it could! As I pointed out before, that which works is not discarded (nor wasted) so an experienced heating technician will hopefully be on site to talk about how best to do it. Expect a fan system to be also part of the project. I have to suggest too, that baseboard electrical resistance heaters are costly to operate while the same configuration of heater is available in a natural gas model.
