We are living in a house that was built in 1972. The temperature this morning is minus 2 Celsius and after getting out of the shower this morning all the windows are covered in condensation. This happens all through the fall and winter months. All winter the patio door accumulates ice and water in the track. Is it possible that it is time to replace our windows?
Answer:
Rather than replacing windows and doors, just open all of them about 1/16" or less and let the humidity escape that way. Once you see everything drying off, you can start closing them but I doubt you'll close of them completely. Something in your house is building up a lot of condensation and you'll sooner or later have to determine what it is and deal with it. Replacement will only help if the new units are installed less than professionally so they leak.
