I want to know what you recommend about moisture in walls.I am buying a home and we had a mold inspector come and three walls in one room showed 30-40% moisture. He seemed to think this was from the exterior pooling of water, and from a gutter that was pointed inward. We have had a terrible experience with black mold in our old home due to construction defects so I am very very cautious.

I don't blame you for being concerned. The mold inspector should have some recommendations for you but don't be surprised if that will entail dismantling the offending walls and replacing insulation, vapour barrier and drywall. That's the bare minimum as you may also be into replacing structural components.
