I moved in to a newly built home in March of this year. The builder did not include a humidifier with the house I have a high efficiency natural gas furnace. Should I get a humidifier before this winter season? If so what type would you recommend?
Answer:
For the first winter, and possibly for the first two or three winters, the last thing you'll be looking for is a humidifier. So much water went into the construction of your house that getting rid of the humidity will probably be a much greater concern that adding to it. Once you get to the point where you need one, get what is called a 'flow through' unit so it uses all the water supplied to it and doesn't end up leaving a pan of water sitting there.
