Question:

I have a moisture problem under one bedroom window. We have central gas heating and wood heat. As we use the wood heat 98% of the time the bedroom affected being furthest away from the heat, gets a frost build up under the window. This of course melts and soaks into the drywall and makes a mess. After it all dries out in the spring, what I have done is, fill and sand smooth, prime and paint 3 coats of oil paint. The window is a wood frame double sealed unit. I also put an additional poly storm window on the outside for the winter. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer:

The secret with windows is to have the outside sheet leaking a bit more than the inside and you just reversed that. You might consider changing your arrangement but as long as you're using wood for heat, you'll probably not be able to completely rid yourself of the condensation.
