Question:

Hi Sam,

Question: We just finished doing a renovation on a 1950's house. During the renovation we found our heat ducts and pipes, possibly floor tiles, possibly ceiling tiles to contain asbestos.

We did disturb it I'm sure as we did not know it was there. We have done out best to clean up using a vac with a hepa filter and sealing off the exposed asbestos.

We have been in the house for about 2 weeks. I am a little concerned about the air quality and if we have inhaled asbestos.

How concerned should I be?

Answer:

If the issue of asbestos is weighing heavily on your mind, I would suggest that you have those areas analyzed and see if they do have asbestos before undertaking a whole demolition project. Until then try not to disturb any of the areas you think are of concern, for if it is asbestos the dust can be harmful. If you have any more questions or concerns feel free to call me.
