Question:

We have a 130 year old house with no insulation in the walls. Is blown in insulation a good idea? Since there will be no vapor barrier with this type of insulation is there a risk of moisture buildup in the walls?

Answer:

The risk is such that I'd do it anyway. You might consider applying a "Vapour barrier" rated paint on all walls afterward and if you're doing the attic, the same paint can be applied to the uppermost ceiling. Be prepared to paint a bit more often than normal in cases like this.
