Question:

I have a very old home with 2 x 4 roof rafters. What is the best way to add batt insulation to the walls? Currently there is blown in insulation on the floor but I am not intending to refinish the walls and floor. Also, after doing the walls, should I just leave the floor insulation since they could be covered by floor boards.

Answer:

Insulating floors is not a good idea because of the humidity (mould) factor and about the only way to add bat insulation to walls is by removing the plaster. Blown in material is much more convenient.
