Question:

i am in the process of turning an old barn into a workshop 30 by 40.I raised the middle 15 feet to 12 feet high ,from there it slopes down to 10 feet at the wall.i finished the ceiling with vinyl siding.Do to low cattle prices i cant afford to insulate the ceiling right now,but here is the question could i use chopped straw insted of comercial insulation? there are no wires in the ceiling.

Answer:

You certainly could but your insurance people will want to know about such a move. I think they'll more than offset the savings for you - if they agree to insure in the first place.
