Question:

Hi!

I live in a townhouse complex and we are planning to put new vinyl siding with 1.1" of insulation. Should the old wooden siding be removed? If so, why? The complex is about 25 years old.

Answer:

Not removing the old siding may make the walls vulnerable to condensation and that is followed by rot of the wooden components. I woulde not dare do it any other way.
