Question:

How can a person tell what R value was truly put in his attic and can u tell me what the R value requirements are for Ontario is. At the moment I have approximately a foot of blown in type insulation.

Answer:

There are standards to which all Canadian residences have to be insulated and those standards vary with jurisidiction and change with the the years at times. Your best bet is to get in touch with your local home builders' association and they'll want to know what year your house was built so they can answer all your questions. There are national and provincial standards and often they're over-ridden by stricter community standards so be careful.
