Question:

Have recently moved into a house and are redecorating. Two rooms have borders which we want to strip and then paint the walls. Have tried scoring the border then using chemical spray on stripper gel but this does not work. Have wet the border with water and this does not help. It comes off in very small bits and alot of scraping is required resulting in significant damage to the drywall. Is there an easier solution?

Answer:

I still think that a small palm tool called a 'wildcat' would chew up the boarder enough for wallpaper removing compound to lift it off. This, of course, if the boarders were put up with ordinary wallpaper adhesive. If the adhesive was separately applied, your present system is about all you can employ.
