Question:

In our camper trailer the wallpaper behind the stove is falling away. I have some left over wallpaper that I would like to put in there. There is wood behind the wallpaper. How would I prepare the surface? I believe the wallpaper is the kind you wet and put up. Do you have any other suggestions on how to repair this.

Answer:

You'll first have to wash off the surface with a course steel wool and varsol. Now you can prime and paint it before putting on the wallpaper. If there are grooves in the panel, you may not be able to get rid of them.
