Question:

We are currently in the process of installing a whirlpool bath. We are wondering what the best way to reduce noise from the motor or create a sound barrier as the tub sits above our TV room?

Answer:

This depends very much on the construction of your house's joist system. I'd install it like the motor and compressor are installed in a refrigerator. There has to be a very firm anchoring but at the same time, the motor vibration has to be dampened with the proper rubber (?) mounting blocks. You might even find some motor mounts at a car junk yard that can be modified to fit the situation.
