Question:

Our home is 30 years old. We have to do something about the tub enclosure and the bathtub is worn. My son suggests resurfacing it rather than replacing the tub. How long does this resurfacing last, as compared to the warrantee of a new tub? Do you recoomend resurfacing?

Answer:

If you have a good tub surround I recommend resurfacing but if you have to replace the surround, you might just as well replace the tub too because it costs about the same. The resurfacing is supposed to last as well as any factory finish but I've heard people complain that it didn't. Stop scrubbing the tub with abrasive cleaners and the gloss will last forever.
