Question:

Where should a bathroom vent fan go? Over the bathtub shower unit, over the commode (water closet) or near the bath entrance?

Answer:

Given the choice, I'll install the fan centered on the tub but roughly a foot in front of it. That's where most of the steam can be collected from showers and the like.
