Expert Q
Question:
We have just bought a house which has an old cement pad about 12 X 20. We would like to try and remove it ourselves what is the best way to remove it. Then we would like to put a new cement pad in further in our backyard approx. 20 X 30 for basketball and hockey use. Is this something novices could do ourselves. If not what should I be looking for when I get quotes?
Answer:
Your best bet for removing the pad is to rent a jack hammer and break it up so it can be hauled away. Unless you're experienced with a mechanized trowel, I'd suggest you have the new one installe professionally because there is quite a knack to getting things sloped in the right direction and smooth.
