Question:

Is there really a difference between the three pre-mixed products of cement, mortar, and concrete? I have some loose stones on a patio to repair and a few joints to refill. Would it matter which product I use? Also, the concrete at the edge of my garage has chipped off, and I would like to repair it. I know I should screw some lag bolts into the damaged parts, then fill it in (using a 2x4 to help support), but of the three products is one better than the other, or can I use one for all my repairs. And, if so, which one.

Answer:

The pre-mixed products are just great but if you're repairing parging, you must use the mortar mix rather than a concrete mix. The former has no aggregate in it and you don't want it in parging.
