Top > Masonry & Chimneys > Retaining Wall

Question:

The drain will be located at the bottom of a hill running at a slight angle to a retaining wall and will drain across approx. 20 feet to a dry well. What depth should it be buried and should it sit on gravel? Any other tips are appreciated.

Answer:

To begin with, dry wells are now quite illegal so you might be careful on that one. I think I'd insist on a Big O of at least 5" diameter complete with sock and yes, I'd want at least six inches of gravel under it and twice as much above it. The trench should be deep enough to ensure that the tile is below your frost line. Good luck with it.
