should I bury my deck posts on the ground in concrete or can I rest the deck on deck blocks on the ground? If I do build the deck on blocks, do I attach it to my house?
Answer:
Deck blocks do very well indeed and if the deck is high enough for you to crawl under it. I wouldn't attach it to the house either. It may heave during winter and you'll want to get under it to shim it to level so crawling underneath is important. You might also want to think about making a couple of the slats easily removeable so you can do the work from the top and not have to do the crawling.
