Question:

The fan in the bathroom quit working and I want to install a bigger one, 110 cfm as you recommend. The problem is I can't get to it from the attic as the old one was installed too close to the outside wall and the roof slopes that way. Do I have to cut out the ceiling?

Answer:

You should be able to remove the existing one from inside the bathroom and then do your installation from there. The motor separates from the housing. There is a lot of room there but you'll have to connect the duct to the housing and shove it up there to be retrieved later for venting outside. The only problem you might run into is if the housing for the 110 CFM is larger than the housing on the exisiting one but that too, can be addressed from inside the bathroom.

In the interests of retaining credibility and in fairness to all, I cannot recommend prices, people nor companies for various projects.

Remember, even if you don’t do your own work around the house have to hire someone, you put yourself at a great advantage when you can intelligently discuss a project with the various trades people.
