Question:

Our deck is an extension of our main floor and covers the downstairs exit of our walkout basement. We built a roof extending from the floor of the deck out another 12 feet. We use this area as a storage and patio area of sorts. The deck is 4x8 sheets of plywood. A few years ago we put a waterproof paint on it and it worked pretty good. It is beginning to wear off now and leaking. We would like to do something more permanent to waterproof. Someone suggested putting roofing tar and laying a sub floor over that. I also saw some wonderful stuff out in Vancouver, British Columbia like a rubber that was stuck to the deck, but I don't know if that would hold up during our winters, or even where to get it. The deck area is 8x24.

Answer:

The rubberized sheet applied to the deck works wonderfully well around pools all over the continent so you can see what I'd use.
