Question:

How do we properly fix and repaint all the ceilings in a bungalow. There are ceiling strips about 12" wide with some kind of bar in between, not square ceiling tiles. There are quite a few stains on the ceiling and only one spot where there is a sag; in the kitchen.

Answer:

You'll first have to determine how much is sagging in the kitchen - is it only the sheathing, or is some of the strapping also loose? The material you describe usually doesn't take kindly to painting so you may well end up applying new strapping (for added integrity needed to support drywall) and then drywall. Once you have that portion open, you might also look at how well insulated and ventilated the attic cavity is.
