Question:

Is it wise to build a upper deck with concrete? I have been told that they crack easily. This area has quite a lot of rain and 3 to 5 feet of snow. temperatures drop to -10 - 15c and go up to +30. How does concrete compare in cost to treated wood or plastic.

Answer:

With the proper re-enforcment, concrete will stand up to just about anything but the cost then becomes a factor. I think you find that the least expensive is wood, next will be the plastics and then concrete provided it is properly engineered and installed.
