I am going to paint rust areas and perhaps the complete area on a metal filing cabinet and a garage door. Is the correct way to try to lessen the rust to rub the area with steel wool (What grade or size)? Then I will paint with a rust type paint.
Answer:
A medium grade steel wool will do the job for you but don't forget to prime the metal surface before painting it again.
