Question:

we are currently renovating our main bathroom. It has the only tub/shower in the house. My question is can I use latex paint (it currently has an alkyd finish which will have to be primed) and be able to take showers within a day or so of application. I hate the clean up involved with alkyds but was told years ago that even a latex paint designed for bathrooms would have to "cure" for a month or so before steamy showers.

Answer:

That's a long time between showers! You might want to prime with a product that is clearly marked as being made to accommodate both oil and water based paints. After it cures, you can paint with the latex and take a shower within whatever number of hours it suggests on the paint can.
