i have masonite siding(concrete/asbestos mix) that i want to paint; is it necessary to prime first or can i paint with either latex or oil right over existing paint? (there is very little peeling and chipping.) would one be better than the other for longevity? what about a stain?
Answer:
You'll have to prime no matter what you use. I'll take for granted that you know that asbestos is a carcenogen and that you'll be taking all the safety precautions in dealing with it. Wherever possible, I prefer to use the water based paints.
