I recently purchased an older home that needs a lot of work. The first thing that I have to do is re-side one end. Q: Should I pre-paint the back side of the clapboards before I put them on?
Answer:
No need to as they will not be open to the elements. Some say the siding has to breathe anyway and I'm sue there is some point to that but I've not seen the protected side of boards painted and they seem to hold up pretty well.
