Question:
That rain storm that we had last week along with the strong winds blew some rain through my roof vent and down through the insulation and stained my ceiling in the living room. I don't have a sprayed ceiling but a ceiling which was trowelled 40 years ago. I tried a can of white paint stain remover made for ceilings that I bought but it left a glossy finish instead of a flat finish and you can notice it. What else can I do to remove the stain?
Answer:
The stain should be painted over with a stain deadener like "3 pound shellac" and then you can paint over it. You can still do that even though you've already painted over it.
