Question:

I have a 20-year old double wooden garage door, consisting of 4 rows of 2 sections, each of which has a wooden frame covered with a 1/4" plywood and a thin wooden veneer. On the outside, the veneer is peeling off, and in some places, the underlying plywood is warped. The framing still seems to be good, so if I remove the veneer and plywood, what can I replace it with? Is there any 1/4" vinyl type covering I can use?

Answer:

Why not keep the era of the door and replace it with the same type of panel you have there. This time though, paint both sides of the panels so they do not become unbalanced sheets for moisture content and they'll outlast you and your grandchildren.
