Question:

Ren, our new to us home has 70's era dark paneling. Any recommendations on on what I can do to make it look like a 2004 model? What is the prep if you wish to paint? How do you will the vertical paneling grooves?

Answer:

Painting is about all you can do with them but the good news is that they can look very nice indeed. Scrub them with steel wool and a paint thinner, prime and paint to your heart's content.
