Top > Attic > Moisture

Question:

We recently found some brown water spots on the ceiling in one of our bedrooms. I understand that this could be caused by excess moistue in the house (we did have a humidifier going in that room for a number of nights) or could be caused by moisture in the attic. How would I find out the exact cause? I can remove the excess moisture from the house, but do not know what to look for or what to do if it's from the attic.

Answer:

If this is on the uppermost ceiling you can be almost sure its coming from the attic. Trace the route the bathroom fan ducts take along the attic floor and you just might find the source. It has to be something like that.
