Question:

I have a main bathroom, and a main BR ensuite bathroom in my bungalow. The ensuite was built by the previous owners by converting the closet of the bedroom. As the ensuite is back to back with the main bathroom, I would like to remodel and make one large bathroom. In doing so, I would like to relocate the tub to the farthest wall(outside wall). My problem is that directly below this location in the basement, is my main electrical panel. Is there any building code that prevents a tub on the main floow from being located above the elecrical panel in the basement?

Answer:

That code varies from one jurisdiction to another and I don't know it well enough even to comment but I certainly would not put the tub anywhere near there. I seem to remmember something about electrical having to be at least three feet displaced from running water but, as I say, this is more logic than rule in my case.
