Question:

I had a furnace installed last week and while the crew was here I had them drill me a new hole for a dryer vent. The hole is a little bigger than the vent (1/4 to 1/2 inch gap). I would like to know the best way to seal it.

Answer:

About the best thing here is glass fibre insulation to within an inch or so of the exterior surface and then a good single polymer caulking compound.
