Question:

Our neighbours air conditioner is about 6 ft from our deck.We put up a fence and planted cedars but the high pitched buzz is so bad we get a headache if we sit on our deck. We even have to close the bedroom windows abovem the deck. We said we would pay for a compressor cover but he won't let us do anything.

Answer:

I would put up a curved metal wall that could not help but re-direct the noise right back to him. After 11 P.M. in most jurisdictions there is a noise bylaw that might also apply.
