I have 24 year pre fab home and when I change my roof last I noticed that the space between the actic and the ceiling was completel block off by 2 X 6. Is this normal should the the actic not breath or ventilate through the eaves. I was told just to put a ridge vent on the roof with a vent on either end of the house. How do you put the ridge vent on across the whole roof or just parts of it, and how is it secured and what is the preparation for the roof before installation. What type of ridge vent is available on the market
Answer:
What you want is a ridge vent with baffles and there are several kinds on the market. You should though, also have soffit venting because not permitting air to travel the full distance from the bottom of the roof to the top can be a cause for shingles to cook and that's what you're trying to avoid.
