I have a water downspout coming from an upper roof and that drains on a lower roof. Over time the shingles directly in front of that downspout have deteriorated to the point that they have lost their granuale covering and colour. I will obviously have to replace them but what can I do to prevent re-occurrences?

Your local roofing company has to have a metal or fibreglass shield that can be installed so the run-ff doesn't end up on the lower roof shingles.
