Does the drip edge, when roofing, just go along the bottom of the roof or up the edge to the peak also? Does the water and ice shield go up the edge to the peak too? How do I finish the edge along the siding on the lower roof? Also, how do I finish around the fireplace (chimney)?
Answer:
Drip edge goes only along he bottom, ice and water shield goes up high enough to be at leasst ten inches past the exterior wall of the house and the shingles go under back flashing and then surface flashing at the transitions between roof and structure and roof and chimney. These transitions are the most important part of the project because when leaks appear, at least 90% of them start there.
