Question:

We have a 1835 house that has been well insulated. In the basement warmth insulation has been blown onto the interior/outside walls and sills. however, draft is still coming in through the floorboards around the wall area. The stone foundation is at least 3 feet thick. Before we moved in some 18 years ago some foam had been blown onto the outside walls below the log level. How can we solve this problem?

Answer:

You'll have to work from both inside and out. Seal up the exterior as much as possible with caulking compounds and on the iside you'll have to do the same thing. Even at that, you'll proabably want to install the rubber pads under electrical plates and the like.
