I'd like to replace the vinyl in the kitchen. It is 5 years old, 3/4" plywood underneath, screwed down (5 years ago). 5 year old kitchen cupboards rest on those plastic screw "legs". No dishwasher. How do I lay the vinyl under the cupboards? I know I'd take off the kick boards but how do I fit the vinyl under these plastic screw legs? How do I get the vinyl under some MDF side panels that rest on the floor and run the length of the lower and upper cupboards? Do I have to take all the cupboards out of the kitchen?
Answer:
Normally, we do not lay the flooring in under already installed cabinets. The practice is to cut off the old flooring right next to the toe-kick and side panels and when the new is glued down, a caulking bead covers the seam and makes it waterproof. You'll have to be more descriptive of the screw legs you talk about because I'm not familiar with them.
