I am renovating an old house. The walls are made with lath & plaster. On some areas, I have taken out the old plaster and replaced it with drywall. On many other areas, I have filled the cracks with plaster. However, some smaller cracks give me problems. Although I have filled them with plaster and sanded them, the cracks keep reappearing. I am considering using caulking. Do you have any other suggestions?
Answer:
When you patch the cracks do them as though you were repairing drywall; use fibreglass mesh tape and joint compound. This will keep them from coming back on you.
