Question:

I have a 10 x 10 wooden shed that is well built and heavy. I plan on moving the shed to the other side of the yard. I want to put a good base underneath the shed. Concrete would be the best but it is too expensive, so would a gravel base with 4 concrete pads one in each corner be ok? If so what kind of gravel and how deep do I go down with the gravel.Or do you have any other suggestions?

Also a friend of mine is building a house, instead of using black tar to seal around the basement walls he wants to use a newer product that is green in colour and it is like a rubber that gets sprayed on, is it worth paying the extra cost and is it a superior product over the black tar?

Answer:

You'll probably be better off to make a frame out of 4X4 PT lumber, fill it with gravel and use that for both base and floor.

The spray-on stuff is good but I understandsome of it is quite temperature sensitive so you might keep that in mind.
