We are on a well and have problems with hard water scale and rust stains on the fixtures. I have heard of the magnetic water softeners and am curious to know what you have heard about their effectiveness, etc.

I've heard about them too but the folks who called me would not provide literature and were not all that forthcoming regarding verifiable positive results. I got the feeling they might have known something I didn't and were not willing to pass it on.
