Question:

We are having cabinets rebuilt outside on a lanai that is exposed to summer rains and occasional standing water. The contractor made the cabinets out of marine plywood but is now trying to peddle MDF laminated doors to these cabinets. The contract says marine plywood cabinetry. Is this fraud? Won't MDF swell and pop the laminate due to moisture over time.

Answer:

I wouldn't spend money on the MDF in this situation and when you tell them that, they'll listen. I even have trouble accepting marine plywood in situations like this.
