Question:

Is it feasible to reconstruct an old farm house from top to bottom, with a second floor addition as well. Have over $200,000 invested already, but area is top quality. Should I get an archetect first, and then a contractor?

Answer:

You're on the right path. Whatever you do, do not leave out the architect or a construction draftsman. You might even save some omoney by dropping the whole project into the lap of your local college's faculty of engineering and let those young, wide open minds have a crack at it. Only after you've settled on design, material to be used and time frame should you be talking to contractors.
