Question:

How do I remove 4" galvanized spiral nails, holding the decking in place? I would like to save the wood for other projects (tree house). The boards are PT, 12 feet long with 3 nails at every joists. It's a back breaking job with a crowbar and hammer. Is there a power nail puller available? I will be replacing the decking with cedar. Is there a better way to remove the boards?

Answer:

Your favorite hardware store will sell you a nail puller and that will make it much easier. This is a tool that takes two hands to handle and make sure the hand that is holding the 'handle' portion is well below the landing level of the hammering end. You'll only miscalculate this once.
